Insourced SEO?

LotusJump has launched a new web-based SEO service. I got there following a link from Duct Tape Marketing and was able to signup for $10/month. The full-priced service is supposed to cost $99/month. Seems pretty over priced, but for $10/month it may be worth checking it out. The sale was a one-day sale so if you're not reading this on December 1st, you probably missed it.

After playing around with the service very briefly, it looks like LotusJump provides you with a bunch of actions that are supposed to increase your SEO. So far the actions have been limited to writing articles on specific sites or requesting links from directory sites. LotusJump says that this service is personalized and targetted to your specific keywords, however at the bottom of every action is a warning telling you to make sure your site is not listed in the directory before you submit, or your site may be banned. It seems that at the very least the software could search the directory sites to see if your business is already listed.

Another point is that LotusJump does not offer any advice on on-page SEO. On-page SEO consists of using proper tags (h1, h2), titles, links, etc. to make sure your page is optimized. This is a very important step!

I'm not sure this software is going to give your average business owner the ability to insource his SEO. Outsourcing SEO can be expensive, but to complete the tasks listed in LotusJump would take a number of hours everyday.

Conclusion: if you can get it for $9/month, jump on it. If not, I wouldn't bother.
